Finding a Driving Instructor

How to Find a Good Driving Instructor

When you are learning how to drive, it is important that you learn how to drive safely right from the start. If you learn to drive from a friend or family member that may teach you some shortcuts to driving, you will pick up some bad driving habits. Bad habits are hard to break, especially when it comes to driving. Driving instructors are trained and qualified to teach you how to drive the correct way, how to be safe when you are on the road and how to successfully pass your driving test.

The first thing you need to do before you choose a driving instructor is to assess your driving needs. In the majority of states, if you are under the age of 18 you are required to take a driver's education course in order to get you ready to take your driving test. If you are an experienced driver, you may want to take a driver's education course as well. Some auto insurance companies will offer you a discount if you attend a driving school to update your driving education.

When you are choosing a driving instructor, you also need to consider cost and location. If you are like most people these days, you are working around a budget that is somewhat limited. Tuition costs will run the gamut so be sure you know what you can afford ahead of time. You also need to factor in location when it comes to choosing a good driving instructor. You want to choose an instructor that is either close to your home or your place of work for the convenience factor. When you are choosing an instructor to show you how to drive, you want to be sure the driving school they are employed with is one that is accredited by the Department of Motor Vehicles. There are several organizations that can help you locate an accredited school. These organizations often sponsor accredited schools. These organizations include the American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association and the Driving School Association of the Americas, Inc.

Choosing a good driving instructor will ensure that you learn the rules of the road the proper way.
